Imam Dr. Rashied Omar's Recital of Juz Amma
Short Biography:
Imam Dr. A. Rashied Omar studied hifz and memorized the full Qur’an at Madrasa Shamusul Islam, based at the Addison Road Masjid in Salt River under the guidance and mentorship of Hafiz Imam Shamsuddin Ebrahim, from 1972 to 1975. Imam Shamsuddin was one of the foremost students of the doyen of huffaz teachers in South Africa, Shaykh Muhammad Salih Solomon (`Abadi). Professor Yusuf da Costa claims in Pages from Cape Muslim History, that of all of the students of Shaykh Salih Abadi , Imam Shamsuddin “has had the greatest impact on the teaching of hifz countrywide.” Hafiz Rashied Omar was one of the very few students who in the seventies combined formal “secular’ schooling with hifz studies.
Juz Amma is the 30th and last part of the Glorious Quran
